@Meh guys it's not supposed to be an 'excuse' it's supposed to be an explanation as to why he acts this way. The author put it in to explain his behavior and extreme possessiveness

@Sooyoung  it's not supposed to be an excuse but it is used as one in bl stories all the time. It always turns out that the abusive top had a boohoo bad childhood, we suddenly feel bad for him, then there is conveniently placed amnesia for the MC and then bamm, they live happily ever after without any redemption arc or character development. Really disappointing. 
If they revealed his past AND then showed him working hard on getting better and earning forgiveness (and not the bottom just forgetting the abuse) then it would be a different matter but that never happens. And no, suddenly acting nice is not character development, because it doesn't show the "development" part.

@I wanna fu** nanami so bad sorry to say hun but it's all in the psychology. ofc it is bad and unforgivable for him to do that to suyeong but it is clearly not an excuse, it's a trauma response. It is when all you have been taught were "this and that", which is why when you are being subjected to new things or feelings that were never introduced to you before, you ofc tend to approach it in a way that is familiar to you. Whether it is a good or bad approach. Him treating suyeong like that is HIS CHOICE. However, it is crucial to understand how his unconscious motivations made him act the way he did. (not downplaying his wrongdoings, just explaining it more psychologically)
