@Sandstone he was a barbarian but I think just a random barbarian. The one Goblin slayer looked up to is Conan, and pretty sure he was a legend long past a single generation ago.
@CeEn I'm glad everywhere I go, people agree this one here is meant to be Conan the Barbarian... It's almost like the people behind this Manga are basically projecting what inspired them to draw Manga
@OzTheMaverick Well it's not even hidden that it's basically D&D. Then all the other fantasy elements the author grew up liking thrown in as folklore or easter eggs.
Pretty sure his teacher is supposed to be a twisted take on Bilbo from LOTR too.
@OzTheMaverick The reference was pretty obvious, considering that its literally how Conan behaves. Strength, Sword and a fair bit of cunning.
@Sandstone Re-reading it I think the barbarian who lost his axe to the goblin lord already lost it and is the gold rank barbarian in the earth quake party side quest. The goblin impaled him through a woman with a sword, I thought he died but considering the location of his scar and his story maybe not.
