Can somebody explain why he lied about the daughter?

@Faaa Unless there's some other hidden motivation, I think it's just that Sam-Myeong's daughter is his main motivation for wanting to leave the palace. And if he thinks that she's dead, it takes away his will to leave (and makes Chang-Geon the only person left in Sam's life to give affection to).
