Naw, you don't get my sympathy at all. You made all of your own choices and even if you had a hard childhood, the MC also had a hard childhood and he still overcame it to help you while you watched him be destroyed. You chose this abuser and you chose to stay with him and pretend like you had no other options, even though you clearly did.
When you pretend that you have no other options but still fully admit that you preferred to die than to tell your mom that you messed up, or you preferred to die rather than risk death talking to the cops, you are just farming for sympathy for your own terrible life choices instead of taking responsibility.
