I'm so angry at Riftan! And disappointed, and frustrated with him. And I also want him to barge in and fix everything and keep her father away from her. She's come so far and it's crazy unfair that she spent her whole life locked up by father, just to be in such an overprotective marriage. Riftan needs to get it together, poor Maxi.

@J.shapland but Riftan at this stage of the novel does not know anything about her father violent behaviour. He thinks his job is to protect her from hardship. He really cares for Maxi well beeing. He saw so much wars, death, sadness which he wants her not to know anything about it. One part of the problem is the lack of communication and understanding but know that it is just temporary.
