@Cupid You do realize that “this MC isn’t even half as bad as most MLs people seem to love” isn’t really a valid argument, right? The people who dislike this MC probably dislike those other characters too. And the people who enjoy these kinds of characters are obviously going to like this MC as well. But the readers who are frustrated with him have every right to voice their opinion too. But hmm… maybe there’s just something missing from this MC that makes it hard for people to empathize with him enough to stick around for the character development? Maybe it’s the specific combination of flaws that makes people unable to connect with him? I personally don’t like him. I’m mainly reading because of the ML and the small appearance of the MC’s friend at the beginning. But who knows? Maybe with more character development, I, and other readers who currently dislike him, might eventually warm up to him. Who knows?
