I have read about people who are baffled by the fact that Jaekyung, despite his past, has become a bad and violent person, comparing him to Kim Dan and comparing their two characters (having had very similar pasts), considering this plot twist quite illogical, but in reality it is quite consistent if we think about the visible details or those that are implicit but can be perceived: First and foremost, which I don't think Mingwa is fully aware of, is genetics or the type of environment where the child had his first phase of development. Kim Dan has no blood relationship with his tormentors and, no less importantly, he had the love, support, and protection of his grandmother throughout his life to counterbalance the abuse and other traumas. For Jaekyung, the situation is very different and much worse: the abuser was his own father, and often, though not always, a child can inherit the violent temperament of a relative through genetics or assimilation: the victim can become the perpetrator. Kim Dan had his grandmother, who always showed him and taught him that there can be love in the world; that if you remain good, kind, and charitable, you will never lose your humanity, and your altruism will be rewarded with the gratification of seeing others happy. On the contrary, JK never had this kind of example. In fact, everything in his life taught him that love for others and for himself is useless, that in order to move forward with his head held high, he must rely exclusively on his own strength and use his violence as a weapon so that he can always win and dominate others without running the risk of being hurt again or losing to others, as happened in his past. In fact, the definitive rejection of his mother figure killed what little emotion remained in JK, making him feel betrayed and consequently causing him to develop distrust of others as well as anger and repulsion.

@Hyacinthus2cents holy yap. You do realise this is a manhwa that most ppl read to get off, right? No one will read all that
@Hyacinthus2cents This is amazing. You are like one the only readers here that understands the effect of different traumas on different ppl. I loveeee your explanation. You nailed it🫶🏾

Ignorant, you shouldn't read anything to get off. At most, while reading manga or manhwa that don't want to convey any concept or plot and are based solely and exclusively on sm**. Here Mingwa is doing an interesting job with JK's past, and it's good that what she wants to express is understood or at least interpreted.
If you don't feel like using your little brain, then ignore my messages and move on!

@Hyacinthus2cents Couldn't have put it better myself!! They call it Nature vs Nurture, but I've also said that Nature sometimes can override Nurture. So many factors involved. This author's thought very deeply about all the characters involved, and is doing a stellar job. For those who can't figure it out for themselves, I wouldn't lose sleep over it 😝.
