@giantcessna if the mmorpg raiderz would still be aviable, i would say try it. gear was 2nd important, skills too, the most important thing in it was knowing how to play.
i did see in it a lvl 1 player fighting ageinst a lvl 35 (at that time the max lvl), he did not much dmg, he would die with 1-2 hits, BUT HECK! they fought for almost 5 mins on even ground, the high one did wear lvl 1 gear. i did see a lvl 30 guy equiced with just 1 lvl1 sword fight an mapboss, the boss was at that time one of the strongest open world bosses, and he beat him solo. tbh, i did die with full gear several times at the hands of the boss, but with time i got better and better, not as good as the guy i told, but good enough to not die by the hands of the boss.

i miss raiderz, it was a nice and cool game, it made a lot of fun to play it and i still wish it would come back agein  

ps: in an real vr game were you can move your charakter like here, gear, statts and skills are not as important as how you move and fight.

@giantcessna fyi, in a VR game as such, that gives freedom of movement over your body, control would be a major factor in how you play and the likeliness of winning.
