@Cookedtoperfection It's her backstory, so basically she's the illegitimate child of the duke. Her mother is sick and the duke threatens to stop giving her medicine if she doesn't steal the secrets of the Harris pharmaceuticals which is I'm guessing a rival company or smth. So she befriends the daughter of the person who owns the company, betrays her friend to steal the secrets, and gets the medicine. But her mother kind of kills herself anyways because she finds out her daughter is being used by the duke. And that's when the mc decides to take over the dukedom herself.
