Your feelings are your own. It's alright to feel how you do. I think its fair to ask for something new or unused as a birthday gift because that's what is expected in most cultures.

This is just my own personal thoughts when it comes to gifts, but I'd prefer something I would actually use (as long as it isn't broken) over something new I would never use. I've gotten gifts (brand new) I ultimately had to regift because I just couldn't find a use for it, or it would be problematic to have.

If you are a reader or diligent in study, your friend showed she really pays attention to you (real thought). It could also be your friend really wanted to give you something and financially isn't in a position to do so (especially considering she made effort to make it presentable)

Talk to her ernestly about it, and get her point of view.

@hmm Thanks you made me view it in a different way. Ig I was short sighted. Tho idk she has any prblm financially as she is rich. Ah sh**. now it sounds like I'm trying to blame her.💀 I love her very much as a frnd. And yes I read a lot. And I was very happy when I got the bookmark.  Thank you again for your opinion. I'll treasure those gifts. After all it's from her heart. Ahh now I feel like crying for feeling dissapointed. I'm really low huh. I'm sry.
