It's not inside a game. It has been stated before (dont remember what chapter) that murim is actually another world entirely and not a game.
Which i think is even better, because the stakes are higher.

 

@Some Body it has never been stated anywhere in the manhwa so far. MC gets into a virtual game device to get into murim. Clearly there's something else going on, but we aren't clear what at this point. For all we know, it might be the matrix

I'm pretty sure it was stated, there was even a bunch of discussions going on regarding that on asura. Maybe different translations or idk how else to explain that. Regardless im pretty sure it's not a mere game.
