Hoyeon is so mature, putting a boundary between himself and a child, showing appreciation while trying not to hurt his feelings. 
What I like about characters falling in love as kids (Kids, BOTH), is that its not even love. They just truly like each other. These 2 personalities met, liked each other, and it seems like the purest kind of Like. No romance or lust involved, just the person they are. 
Hoyeon was also a kid in this chapter, right? A high schooler? Or was he already in college?
