That room... I think I'm starting to understand the story.
My theory goes like this:
Swallow is a being that is created in order to guard something g** wants to be kept secret. Something the world cannot see, and is connected to "heroes".
150 years ago, there was a great hero, we read about him.
He killed melje's father too, and then challenged swallow's primordial core.
In a turn of events, he saw that piece left by g**, tue one swallow was protecting. He decided he must guard it from the world... Or guard the world from it.
And so, since humans don't have infinite lifespan, he decided to turn himself into an undead. An umdead named... You guessed it, Patrick.
Point is, swallow is the gatekeeper to something big, big enough to make a hero turn to his side and help him keepsake it from the world. We also know that sandworm found out about that thing, or a different thing of the same type, maybe a lesser version.
I do not know what said "thing" is, but I can theory more.
1: a piece of g** himself. G** left swallow a piece of himself to protect, for one reason or another.
2: a mirror/window to something horrifying, that mortal minds cannot comprehend.
3: It's just something a human swallow liked a while ago liked or something like that which is highly unlikely in this case.
4: sealed g**. Again, I feel like it's connected to g** somehow.
5: something that makes heroes.. "heroes", or a clue/vision of it/to it. But more like something unholy rather than divine.
This is just a bunch of theories, I've not read the novel and didn't get spoiled yet.

@Viewer 7 Very plausible. But I think that instead of Patrick turning himself into undead, He and Devourer had a promise, in which Patrick becaomes an undead soldier under Devourers command. Details are unclear, but there does seem to be some sort of contract between the two. Another thing is (I'm not saying you are wrong) that I beleive that when Patrick started under Devourer, Devourer was still a warlord. And that as he stayed with Devourer, He gradually learned the truth because we all know Patrick is no fool. I also beleive that it might, instead of bieng related to g**, be an object that manipulates the laws of the world/existence. Mostly because hexabell used it to evolve, even though doing so should have been impossible for another few hundred years.( like 2-3 hundred years)
@Viewer 7 this doesnt have anything to do with your theory but sadly there is no translated novel, i e searched far and wide on many sites and haven't ever found 1 translated novel so we will all unfortunatly have to wait for the chapters to release unless you can read Korean.
@Viewer 7  that's a plausible theory but what of if the thing Patrick is protecting is humans but he's protecting them from swallow what of if it's swallows true form that's in that room and what we are seeing is just a part of himself, what of if swallow is a foreign entity from another dimension or an ancient forgotten G** from another world or maybe even that world, maybe he's basically the progenitor of the world that he's currently inhabiting and the promise made between he and Patrick is that swallow shouldn't wipe out humanity from existence like he has done before.
There are so many ways this story lore can go which makes it sooooo interesting.
@I_am_an_Anonymous_guy First of all, you're right about the contract/promise probably. He literally JUST asked swallow to fulfill his promise/end of the deal so yea.
I don't think it's something that manipulates the law of the world as you meant it, since hexabel mentioned she was researching it, and that it was connected to the heroes.
@Nice well, it does verify that I wasn't talking based on reading the novel at least..
@Haddassah that's true, we really don't know much do we. I don't think the promise was to not wipe humans out because swallow said he tried several times and it just didn't work so he stopped because it was pointless.
I do find the first theory very fun.
I mean the one wuere swallow's a g** or a piece of him is there or smth.
@Viewer 7 yeah 😊 that one does sound more fun like can you imagine how much despair people will feel when they realize 😂😂
@Viewer 7 that's what I was referencing. it is also because of how patrick keeps threatening to put in a resignation letter
@Haddassah I agree, I love how open they made it. this is one where it is like a pick your own adventure with how many endings there could be. also the art is amazing.
