If you consider the fact that the prince thinks she's infertile and that he has never been with a pregnant woman before or seen any...
Plus, she is really early and pregnancy symptoms can be (and have been) excused as just a stomach flu or something, in the first month which is probably why he didn't guess it.
Also, men tend to be a little... slower... when it comes to the female anatomy...
I'd say he's not really stupid or wrong...

Yea I wasn't surprised that he didn't catch on at first, but he was considerate while thinking that she's sick. Plus back in those time men knew very little about women fr. 

He did catch on really quick when his friend was telling the story about his sister though, lol I didn't expect him to realize just by hearing that story

Sometimes I have to laugh at how little men know about women and our bodies 😂 Then again they're a huge mystery to us too
