Wow that doctor is a complete and total moron. Even if the knee had no cartilage at all that still wouldn't mean he would live the rest of his life in a wheel chair. He would just need knee replacement surgery, it's a painful process but not a big deal. He**, him gaining this much weight is probably worse for his knees then judo ever was. That doctor should be sent back to school to start from square one. Sorry for the rant, I work in the medical field so blatantly wrong medical science is a pet peeve of mine.
