okay tiny nerd talk real quick. reverse grip has skyrocketed in media as the "cool thing protags do", but in reality it's only used when you need more power for a knife because you lose all of your range. But, range doesn't matter when you're trying to open a plate suit with a mercy dagger, so it has it's place. However, it does not belong in the hands of every single black haired protag ever.

some other random tidbits:
spears are the king of weapons, and are just better
swords are a sidearm, a sign of wealth, and a dueling weapon, not a common mans weapon
daggers are for when "oh dang my spear broke i'm about to die" not a main weapon
so the order is spear and shield(or full plate if you're rich rich) then sword, then the panic dagger(you also use the dagger when you're prying open the giant meat can we call armor)

armor is much lighter then you think it is
swords are much lighter then you think they are
swinging attacks don't work because you get stabbed 10 times with those long wind ups (wind ups do work with a hammer or axe, but not war hammers or axes because those are meant to be fast)
greatswords are cool, but they don't look like a 60 pound hunk of metal, as they were offen a bodyguards weapon and were used for area denial (also they are faster then you think)
those huge swords would be so useless(like just use a mace)

(lastly don't even dare trying to use a greatsword in reverse grip whether it be the real or fictional kind. in fact don't even think of it)
