I want to summarize and am confused myself, correct me if I am wrong:
The first nightmare created the illusory tree.
The three ancient gods were alive at that time.
Assumption: Only awakeners or angels and demons were probably allowed to climb the tree and reach godhood and enter the abyss. Awakeners had to reach 4th stage of awakening while angels and demons had to cultivate more souls to attain godhood.
Angels and demons (cultivators) cultivated souls from the roots of the tree using the towers created by nightmares. These towers acted as a bridge to connect the world's like earth from roots to the trunk.
Cultivated souls go to great lands and when they die they go to chaos and work ad nourishment for the tree.
Big brother appeared and created the system which led to the birth of the adapters. That's why he is also called the g** of adapters. Now adapters could also climb the towers.
Big brother killed deus, imprisoned catastrophe and geshtalt went to the forest.
Thousands of years ago a few gods entered the great forest to get the ancient gods relics but died and only 6 survived. These 6 gods became 2-7 seats of the 7 grand gods. And big brother became 1st seat.
Great lands got too big and seperated from the tree and was declared as site 1 to be governed by big brother. He also created a heirarcy of 12 monarchs, equal to 7 gods. (we haven't seen a single monarch yet probably except monarch of steel). Big brother now resides in the nest of the tree (the very top).
The abyss was divided into 8 sites (2-9), site 2-7 were given to rank 2-7 of the great gods and site 8 was decalred neutral zone (caspion). Site 9 is the great forest, forbidden zone where geshtalt's tribe live.
