I find the whole chapter quite unrealistic: it provided no clarity, no closure, no conflict, absolutely a waste of time. And yes, I have deep rooted mom issues (bio mommy abandoned me when I was 8 and my stepmom, whom I considered my mom for over a decade, betrayed me so deeply when I was 18)

@Helena For me, I could say that it turns unrealistic because it is rushed. It looked like a summarized version of them.
@Your boyfriend However, if the author just emphasized or stretched out the panels focusing on them. That would residents more with the readers.
@Your boyfriend I believe that even if they focused on just the two of them, it doesn't resonate. That exchange between them was so far fetched, in my opinion.
