The duke strokes her head and tells her to raise her head. Eckart's never bow. She's a member of the family and handled the situation without being overwhelmed. He tells her she did well and after receiving this gift he was so happy to show everyone he met. He didn't care about what people said and wonder whether she can let him try harder to be a father who can cover up her accidents. No matter what she does, she has always been proud of her. Penelope starts crying and the duke hugs her carefully. They stay like this for awhile. Then a knight cries out to Callisto that they have an emergency. Rebels have stormed the imperial palace and taken the emperor hostage at dawn. Marquis Ellen forces were also among the rebels and had entered the palace before the surprise attack. Penelope thinks that the second prince's forces are working together with the rebels. Callisto realize that the Delman attack with a diversion and they were trying to trap him. Penelope remembers the Delman soldier warning Eclise to stop attacking with the monsters and to proceed with the original plan.

She realizes that it's all been Yvonne's plan. Eclise, the rebels, Marquis Ellen the queen were all within her hands. She got goosebumps and wondered where else Yvonne had reached. Cedric is leading the army back from the north but the rebels had already taken over the archery so laying siege against a solid defense would be hard.The duke then announces he will support Callisto's troops. Callisto is shocked because they never helped support the troops in the last war. The Duke remarks that there's no helping it and they Eckart's have a debt to pay Marquis Ellen who tried to frame Penelope at the hunting competition.

He won't let him go when he's right in front of their nose. They had tried to excommunicate Ellen but failed. Instead they had managed to seize half his territory thanks to Callisto's support. Callisto and the Duke shake on their alliance. Callisto tells Penelope that he's leaving the wizard and escort with her, so stay here. She refuses and says she's going too because Yvonne is there. Callisto tells her no. She says she's strong and has taken the potion.

He tells her he knows she's not weak and he out of everyone knows how strong her magic is. But because of the rebels, the palace is now a battlefield and they don't know if there are more hidden forces. In this situation, they can't easily catch Yvonne and what will they do if it's actually a trap for Penelope. He tells her there's a limit to defending her on the battlefield and to wait until the clear the debris and then she can come. She asks about the hostages. He tells her there's no guarantee she'd be able to save the hostages by going with Yvonne's request. When he sees her eyes shake he hugs her and tells her he'll talk with the duke about making a rescue operation so don't make that face. She remembers that he was a man who never broke his word so the hostages would be saved and the rebels defeated. He tells her she has too many worries and to close her eyes and when she wakes up it'll be over. She digs herself deeper into his arms searching for warmth and hoping it's true.
