but he didn’t abandon his studies for garam… where did you come up with that? He was heartbroken and planned to run away from his problems/hurt by studying abroad and not because he had any motivation to study there. His mother saw right through that and didn’t let him go. She makes him work and I am sure she’ll make sure he ends his studies. And garam knows he depends on ending his studies, because he doesn’t have rich parents he can fall back on.
Jaehyuk actually got more diligent because of his relationship with garam, not the other way round.
Or was your comment on a hypothetical scenario where they abandon their study?
