I think Ain is doing this as a sort of revenge on Anatolde's family. Look, Ain's mom is from the south, and the south is known to accept illegitimate children. Ain's father visited the south every now and then, and by so doing, came across Ain's mom, who's probably a member of the Anatolde family(be it legitimate or illegitimate). He got her pregnant, but he couldn't accept her because he was already married, which made the child they had illegitimate(Ain). However, the Anatoldes didn't accept her either because she'd had an affair with a noble married man of the south, which led to them living poor lives. Ain, hearing this story from his mother who was dying from not being able to handle the northern winters, gets angered by it and pledges to have his revenge on the Anatoldes, hence him marrying Michel
