@Insight Honestly your responses come across as performative.
When you know something is bad and being normalised you are meant to speak up. Whether that be racism, apartheid, abuse, forced arranged marriages, etc.
Just because it didn't hurt you personally doesn't make it any less wrong. Saying anything will not lead to any changes but it is the start of change. But that I get help and that I stop having weak mentality?
How about you stop with your blatant support of something that you know is wrong.
You say you pity the ignorant. That you want me to educate myself and grow, but when the same is said about artist making racist depictions it's cricket sounds.
"People like you who are weak minded and want conflict ..." No. Me saying, I don't appreciate minstrel shows as representation is not the reason why you are facing more discrimination. The issue is that people are upset with their comfort being questioned and are kicking up a hissy fit.
Also is this not YOU mischaracterising Chinese people as "weak and needing protection" while being ignorant?
It's "Oh but it's normal for them... They don't know any better"
You don't want people like me to speak up because you are comfortable with this normalisation. (And you are because you are supporting this modern depiction)
But, oh well. Because at the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that this was a racist representation of a coloured person
So, thank you for your suggestions. They were not appreciated. Now here is my suggestion for you.
Take your novella of a comment, your performative bullshit take on ignorance and the racist art you are willing to die on a hill for, and fu** off.
Happy reading I guess.
