This is going to be an unpopular take but I don't think anyone in lewllyn's situation could have handled it better. Realistically, she doesn't have power of her own. Her networking literally depends on all the guys who seem to have romantic feelings for her and that is literally the only reason they are willing to help out. She keeps trying to solidify their loyalty in the only way she knows how because even though all of them seem to claim they love her and are there on her side.... None of them is actively helping her except maybe tristan but he lacks power too to be honest. On the other hand, these people keep throwing the vilest accusations her way. She is so fragile and rightfully so because her actual family hates her, the guys she loved just called her a wh*** and cruel like all the time, the step family keeps consistently creating some dramatic fuss around her every week, the so called female friend (duchess) only ever provokes her for her own gain in the most horrible ways possible.... All the affirmation she gets feels so hollow its unbelievable. EVERYONE KEEPS PROJECTING THEIR FEELINGS ONTO HER.... She is forced to sleep with like every tom di** and harry... People who she hates... People who she doesn't know.. people who used to hate her.... Why would you expect someone like that to be able to act rationally or even morally??? It stops mattering after a point... She is simply trying to survive.... I have said this before and I will say it again.... Almondite is like the worst possible pairing for her.... The author might be able to make her have feelings for him because she did love him once but his character is irredeemable... Like even the backstory does not compare to lewllyn's suffering... I have zero sympathy for this man... And the audacity he just displayed.... I can't understand people on his side.
