@TotallyAbsurd I guess i understand the thought; but the instant negativity towards it is a bit strange :(. Them implementing a new plot device that you subjectively deem as cheesy (fake..? wouldn't you need to say that about literally everything we read? none of it is real) doesn't really take away from the writing.
After reading so many similar sleezily lazy plot ploys, it gets old and the visceral reaction is close to automatic at this point.
Especially so when it appears when chapters count is already so high. This was a good story, now it's unredeemably trash, it is what it is. Let me grieve this loss.
