@bkbuglet He is Price Alfonso's personal guard who had a one-sided crush on Ariadne. When the male foreign diplomat that visited with the Lariessa girl tried to assault Ariadne, Alfonso killed him. The personal guard took the blame to protect the prince.  While the guard was held prisoner and tortured in the other country, his twisted feelings blamed Ariadne for everything.

@bkbuglet  Sir Elco was the one who volunteered as a scapegoat for Alfonso for killing the Gallican envoy that tried to kidnap and kill Ariadne. He was taken to Gallico and was subjected to extreme torture leading to brainwashing and physical wounds like his cut off arm, that lead him to become mentally unstable as he is now, albeit unnoticed. Literally, everyone in this story has mental health issues 😢.  Ps. I dunno if the spoiler where Alfonso executes Elco is true in the. Novel(probably fake news)
