@Kat E there are reasons and his is valid. If he doesn't do his very best for the Empire people die, families die at war or from starvation, the economy can collapse, rebellion, civil war, his greedy cousin could take over the kingdom. So is neglect right? No. But ruling a country is a valid reason for it. Your family can't come before the lives of the people you rule because they rely on you for everything.
