@Pearl because the prince is smarter than that.
And there are unfortunately plenty of examples in history where kingdoms didn't fall even with the higher ups being brainless fools. Or at least they didn't fall in a single generation because the retainers were burdened with the load instead.
Of course there were also kingdoms (and nowadays companies) that fall once someone takes over because of a blood relationship rather than earning it
