@Yourmom from what I understand from the manga, mage are quite vulnerable to close range attack especially assassin so if a mage get caught lacking they'll most likely get killed even tho serie is indeed the most powerful mage there is to offer you need to remember that magic in this manga is based on imagination the more unhinged and ungrounded you are the more powerful you become
