Only regret and self loathing will be left in the end. He will never truly love him but hating him would be unbearable too. He will know it's wrong but his heart won't allow him to completely let go of the king. The guilt and helplessness that he is about to feel will weigh so heavy that all rationality and sense will be buried underneath it. None of them will get their happy ending but if they do there will always be self doubt and a life filled with regrets. Only chaos and ruin are in store for them.
