This Gong Ting dude has a noble heart, but he gotta see the bigger picture. MC told him what to do already, and yet, his pride won’t let him be dishonest.
Maybe that’s why the writer had Cavendish already suspect/ discover Si Chen’s secret. Because if they hadn’t, Gong Ting basically sold MC away, exposing others to MC’s strength without needing to describe his abilities.
