Honestly I hate r*e but this dude kinda deserved a punishment. He basically stalked the ml and cursed the mc. If the mc wasn't saved, he would've been alone for eternity dying a lonely long death. Which is more fucked up. I'm not saying r*e is good but it's not the worst compared to what he did to the mc.
