@Сергей Давыдов because following the plot it's the easiest way to keep using the information he already knows about the future, diverting too much from the original can make new events that didn't happen in the novel and lead to worse paths, if he wants a specific outcome like here for example to make feedus rebel against the Royals, he needs to follow the plot.
