@Jellybean still early in the story, could be bad communication between them, and his inferiority complex might had made him miss all the signs. People be wallowing in their own head yo.
@Kintoki ^this pretty much. and also seems like they were all really busy with public and military bs growing up so didnt get much time as a family or at least how a family should spend time together
@Jellybean I mean they already explained it in the whole chapter. You guys even read? The sister got busy with studies and the brother with military stuff and said they regretted not spending more time with Ashton. So they basically didn't realize it till he was gone.
@Jellybean one of the replies already said it. But it might just be his inferiority complex that he never really realized. Some people can have inferiority complex that results to anger while some just gets blinded from what's going on around them and in turn causes them to overthink.
