Actually, the question "why the town was killed off" can be interpreted in more than one way. Sure, it was caused by a curse. However, this only answers part of that question. It does not answer *why* it was targeted by this curse, *who* killed off the town or even *who* even has the power to cast such a powerful, all-encompasing curse.

Sure, the obvious suspicion falls on the local witch of the woods as it is assumed that such curses can only come from a witch. However, by the end of this chapter, readers are lead to believe that this witch is unlikely to be the culprit. Even if she was guilty, it would not explain *why* she did it.

Personally, I'm as frustrated as Allen Osborn seems to be over not knowing who or why. It does not help that this story seems to have a somewhat poor translation, with more than a few speech bubbles filled with bad English. Nor does it help that this witch seems to have language or speech issues and the replies this witch gives to MC are broken and woefully incomplete.
