@Anon I'm guessing because being immortal alone doesn't help with actual fighting since he can't dish out damage or maybe just bad writing we will see

@The Void Imma guess its the same situation as the MC got SS rank talent offended an corrupt official over some bullshit, couldnt be killed so the best they could do was move him to a dying team so he would be sent to the lower districts. Bonus points if he has a contract spirit or previous team that died or something and thats why he drinks.
