@Izayomi Tempest she does that's the point. She's not actually ugly and hideous, she was raised by a self loathing mother who projected that to her baby. Her father is abusiv3 so of course he verbally abus3d her with insults on her looks, her sister most likely envied her because of her capabilities (since it's hinted she doesn't have anything going on outside her looks). And since her family most likely spread rumors about her and mistreated her so publicly, the others followed, this all is why she thinks she's ugly. But if you really saw without the context she isn't ugly and no one thinks that truly but she believes it and is so traumatised she can't see how she really is. It's clear she's no beauty queen and by her own words "average" but average isn't ugly, and some people find average attractive.

@Niala and don't forget that she was abused so her face was covered in bruises and dirt, also her bangs tend to cover her features. She's not ugly just wasn't in the right environment
