And politics is a little bit more complicated.  Cedric already had the legitimacy and the honor, he's a duchess son and the heir of the duchy. 

On the contrary, Lawrence is an illegitimate child, he lives in his step father estate, which he can never inherite and he's millaira's daughter, a promiscuous woman and worse she isn't noble by birth.
Proving himself will be thrice more difficult than with Cedric but he's just a lazy a** who rely too much on his parents
