the ML is just manipulating the MC and he isn't really the "green flag" and 2nd ML we know in omega complex(previous work of the author). He already knew that the MC likes him and is just playing with him. Not to mention, he was also a spy of the MC's mother. He is the kind of manipulative character that I cannot stand. Other readers advise against rushing to judgment about the ML until we experience the novel from his perspective. However, after finishing the novel, I truly regret ever liking the ML initially. It breaks my heart to realize that the ML has been deceiving the MC, from his childhood as a "spy" to college where he engaged in "mind games," all while knowing how deeply the MC cares for him..
