I love this story but I find it soooo annoying when in a BL omegaverse manga they call the bottom 'mom' or 'mommy'. It just makes no sense to me because BL is BOY love not straight, there are no women in their relationship and I feel like calling the bottom mom just forces a heterosexual view on a homosexual relationship, they can him him Papa or dad or daddy there are so many options and calling the bottoms mom.
I literally only know one manga that doesn't do this and that is Unromantic -_-

Deliverance of the Counterattack/Counterattack Through Pregnancy doesn't do it either
Why can't they just call the "mom" dad/ daddy and the "father" father, why calling the male omega mom/mommy
It depends on the story
Well mother is the title of someone who carries the baby, it has less to do w gender and more to do w the reproductive system. This is actually something that goes beyond and far before hegemonic and whiteness idelogies on sexuality. I would go all the way in detail but I don't feel like giving history lessons lol but basically the origin maternal and paternal roles aren't rooted in our societal gender understanding bc those social constructs are still fairly new and we're born from colonialism & colonization.
Oh thank you for explaining, in some omega verse they call the omega dad/daddy, if you have an iPhone and read any story with the AA then you translate in English the bottom is always in féminin wife/mom/mommy (idc about the wife bcz it's cute)... , when I see it on manhua I think that the translator must have just copied and pasted the text on google translation, but even it it was the case we should just thank them because they're just doing it illegally for us to read
Anyways it's good to see that it has a sens, some translators don't give a sh** about the translation
Ohhh that's really interesting actually! I still think that they shouldn't call the omega mommy or mom tho ngl but I like have that other prospective so thank you. Wanna start a little debate thing, in a GL omgeaverse (if that even exists idk) where the alpha and omega are both girls, is the alpha referred to as dad or father?
I just thought of another example - but irl - so bare with me this might get long if I think of more lol
If a heterosexual couple adopt does the woman in that relationship (who didn't carry the baby) still get called mom or mommy?
An old teacher of mine was adopting and she said that she would get paternity leave which makes sense bc there's no recovery time involved in adopting so would she be called dad?
Kinda seems like a rhetorical question but I think from writing this I've realised that even if the origin of mommy and daddy had to do with who was pregnant or not and not gender making it that a male omega would be called mom but because omegaverse doesnt exist irl, those names like mommy and daddy have been given genders where the woman is always the mommy and that man is always the daddy so yeah.
Thank you for replying but I'm sticking with my opinion lol. Hope u enjoyed my rant and hope I gave u guys some food for thought 😊👍
I haven't read many GL omegaverses but the few I have that alpha was "papa" but nonetheless I think you do make a great point, I wasn't necessarily trying to rebuttal but more so explain the background on it as food for thought! This forcing of cisheterosexualness does continuously show up in qu*** relationships so I def understand the perspective and irritation- as for the teacher I say it would depend on the role she took on as the parent but also our society has intertwined gender in every single thing so if we being real she'll probably just be a mama. But yea this was a good conversation lol and I think they are important to have if we ever plan on deconstructing and getting rid of whiteness, patriarchy, and the over all normalization of cisheterosness as the standard ✊🏾🫶🏾
