Do they need to go in group to bring reinforcement. Some of them should stay to help namgung clan fighting against invaders. It's like running away for their lives but when they're in trouble against invaders, they will likely to ask for namgung clan for help.
If MC hadn't appear then both those guys who running to murim alliance and namgung clan would be eliminated. But if both of those groups team up to hold their ground against invaders and one of the strong guy among them run to murim alliance for reinforcement then it would save more lives.

@Book From what we've seen so far, we've seen a handful of strong warriors and a mix of brainwashed murim warriors along with some regular blood cult members. The Namgung clan, historically in manhwa, is very strong. One of the 'great clans' that has a multitiude of strong warriors. However, even though some of them are brainwashed, they are mindless and haven't shown (yet) that they can use martial arts. It's only the confusion and surprise that led to some of the warriors being caught by surprise. But also remember. The instructors from the 'great academies' are here. They're stronger than your average warrior.

And assuming that, through the use of movement martial arts, that it's relatively shorter journey, it's worth it. Though it is a reduction in military power that can hurt them short-term, the reinforcements that arrive would be able to crush them. I wouldn't be surprised if the murim alliance sends some of their strongest to squash their enemy. Historically, this decision has proven fruitful. When a generally equally matched force butts heads against eachother, the force on home ground sends for reinforcements. "Then send some other person." Well first of all, just 'any' other person wouldn't be as fast and as resilient. And secondly, they wouldn't want to bet on a unarmed person going. They would need an escort.
