You're all cursing the dad but I think 🤔 it's completely different. He did not abuse his daughter. I  think he didn't want her to ended up like him.

@Ace yeah he didn't abuse her he just neglected her.

He did seem to treat his dog with more affection than he ever did his own daughter.
