@Robin she's not a loved one though, by any stretch. Biological sisters yes, but they didn't grow up together (she was abused for/because of her existence, so that complicates feelings even if she would be opposed to the abuse).
They have no common ground or interests. Personalities that are diametrically opposed. She wouldn't get on if they were perfect strangers. Why should Helga subject herself to someone she dislikes? Why should she lie and continue her previous life of having to live and sacrifice herself for others?
This is not about hate, it's practical thinking.
Plus getting involved with her means she is then tied to the family that abused her. They come as a package deal, because she has never cut off her mother for what she did Helga. She is asking Helga to let her ignore the festering wounds inflicted on her, because that happy puppy can't face it.
Her sister was either too stupid or naive to pay attention to what was happening to Helga even when it went on right in front of her nose.She didn't see it , because she didn't want to.
I'm not calling her a bad person, but her presence is toxic to Helga.
Its not entirely her fault.
