@Mirage Agreed, why would you want a front-row seat to watch people slowly suffer and die?
Also, being in the city seems like a bad idea long term anyway. Once the freeze is over, there isn't likely to be any resources left in a large city like that.
Also, renovating a tofu dregs building with 20cm of steel plate seems to be unlikely. Your whole house is likely to over-weight the entire building on one side. Considering how quickly they were able to make progress on cutting down to the steel plate, you'd probably be able to destabilize his entire home and cause it to fall out of the building entirely. At that point, you are pretty much guranteed to die on impact.
