I knew this would happen
Dude gets the opportunity to be rich later in life, lady marries the other guy and has children with him, somewhere along the lines they meet. At first it was a cold meeting, but as they bump into each other due to official business, they rekindle the lost love, but alas, their responsibilities prevent them from doing so. At some point, the attraction becomes too strong, they give in to the temptation. Maybe it becomes a scandal cuz someone saw it happen, or maybe she gets pregnant and is riddled with guilt when she looks at her beloved child (from the other guy), who knows.
