@Smascha he's securing the scene since their only ally there is the "cursed", that's probably his way to protect her specially with politics/nobles/monarchy and sent mikhail to aid his daughter instead... he's trying to clear her name (probably might as well mikhail's) i'm not really sure but this is my view of the situation.
