@Wonderweiss maybe what he mean is his reiatsu just keep in check, mind you that he has massive amount of reiatsu to balance yuha, yama, and retsu’s reiatsu after their deaths. Now that his reiatsu in now kept in check the balance is broken causing the gates of he** forcibly opened.
