@R1coo because he is an indifferent person and is way too secure in this relationship we only ever get to see akane jealous or upset at times but Yamada shows no other emotion and seeing a man jealous and protective of her girlfriend feels like he cares. Besides its a part of every shoujo manga where the guy gets jealous at one point so it feels incomplete without it.

@rebellious I really don't want to offend you but this is utterly bullshit. He is too secure in this relationship? Why shouldn't he feel secure? That's how a healthy relationships work, not by one or both being jealous. ,,Seeing a man jealous feels like he cares"? So you're saying that just because he trusts her and doesn't get jealous of everyone then he doesn't care about her?
