That's the evil of spoilers, ppl keep getting mad at Ash before he even did something to be hated. Following the manga only, we can notice that he is slowly getting into Karly but Karly is already in love because he has never been in a relationship and Ash is just as amazing partner. The point is that at the very beginning they both made it clear that it was purely business to help Karly's problem and Ash also made it clear that it was cause Nick asked for his help. So no, Ash is not playing dirty or anything he also said at the beginning that he is kind to his partners that just how he is. Not his fault that Karly turned out to be innocent and all. Just saying... But I don't want them to get hurt of course
