@alapma I understand where your coming from, but that should only apply to plot twist betrayals. This one in particular was painfully obvious from when he was first introduced. Dude was a creep who was only after her body the entire time. As the story moves forward, you can see him getting fed up with her behavior, and not willing to listen to any of his advice. I'm more surprised he got this far without betraying her.
If he only wanted her body which was his reward for helping, then wouldn't it make more sense for him to switch sides and convince the prince to hand her over to him. From a storytelling stand point it fits.
