None of this would have happened had they told sylhan the truth from the beginning. I hate the trope where mc don't know about "a conspiracy" but everyone else knew yet the didn't tell mc to let him figure it out. That's so stupid & a waste of time. Even if the mc wouldn't believe the conspiracy at first, just tell them so that they can start to think and investigate themselves to learn the truth. If the mc remains blind to the truth then not only they're gonna create unnecessary trouble for the ppl that support them (messed up the supporters plan or worse get the supporters killed). In this case, so many unnecessary ppl died just coz ml and ppl around him didn't tell sylhan wtf is going on.
